Childhood memories
Childhood Memories is an instrumental journey through time, built from two fragments of my own life. The first part was composed in the late 90s, when I was around 20, still living at home with my parents and uncertain about my future. It’s driven by a minimalistic house beat inspired by Cassius, Daft Punk and the French Touch scene, layered with melancholic pads from the Roland MC-303. It sounds like dancing alone in a dark room while thinking about everything you’ve lost — the VHS-tape version of your youth. The second part was written nearly twenty years later, when I was a father with young kids. It carries a warmer, cinematic 80s feel, with floating Juno-60/106-style synths, PPG Wave layers, and a nostalgic, film-score quality. It’s inspired by those faded Super 8 home movies, interludes from old Québec TV, and the strange beauty of vintage Radio-Québec Interludes. Visually, the video reflects this mood with slow, dreamlike camera movements across surreal cityscapes, abandoned playgrounds, and golden-hour light. The style blends washed-out pastel colors, Super 8 film grain, and philosophical undertones about time, memory, and identity. This project was entirely crafted in AI, manually segmented and synchronized with the music for precise audio-reactive animation. Each scene is designed to evoke that bittersweet space between reality and memory — something you can feel but never fully hold. If you enjoy immersive, reflective, and nostalgic audiovisual work, I hope Childhood Memories will resonate with you.
